How the tracker works

Each edition is built from selected full episodes in the date window shown.

Basis and coverage

Devolved and party-channel shows are reported separately and are not included in the main figures. A missing episode is shown as a coverage gap and is never treated as zero.

People and parties

Counts are mentions in transcript-screened editorial speech. Share of voice is calculated within each category. Mentions per editorial hour divide the entity count by the total editorial speech hours in the UK-wide group.

Former prime ministers appear in their own group. Their mentions are also shown as a share of tracked person mentions.

Topics

Topic shares use screened in-speech passages. The labels can overlap, so their shares do not add to 100 per cent.

Trends

Trend values use the same UK-wide basis as the edition pages. A thin-week marker follows the flag in the source trend export. It signals a week that is less directly comparable.

Only editions approved for the current preview are included. Each edition headline is written and checked by the editor.
